What Powers the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S?
The all-electric Wagoneer S is driven by a combination of a battery pack and two electric drive modules (EDMs). One EDM powers the front wheels, while the other is mounted on the rear axle, driving the rear wheels, providing the Wagoneer S with four-wheel drive capability. However, the front EDM comes with a disconnect feature for instances where four-wheel drive is not required, such as on smooth, dry roads. When road conditions are ideal, the front EDM will cut power to the front wheels, essentially running the car in rear-wheel drive to maximize efficiency and range. To provide the Wagoneer S with instantaneous torque response, the EDMs operate independently of each other. The EDMs are powered by a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Built on the STLA Large BEV platform with an 800-volt architecture, the 2024 Wagoneer S produces up to 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.
Customize Your Drive with Selec-Terrain
The 2024 Wagoneer S takes all-terrain capability to the next level with its own version of Jeep’s Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. On the Wagoneer S, Selec-Terrain comes standard with Auto, Sand, Sport, Snow, and ECO modes, which can be selected with a switch on the center console. With Selec-Terrain, drivers can easily adjust the vehicle’s capabilities based on the terrain by selecting different driving modes. In Auto mode, the system uses sensors to monitor wheel spin and automatically adapt to the current conditions. Meanwhile, Sport mode raises transmission shift points for higher engine RPMs, maximizing power and performance. Snow mode fine-tunes power distribution, torque, and traction control to maintain grip on slippery surfaces. Sand mode adjusts settings to optimize traction through loose terrain. Finally, ECO mode engages the front EDM disconnect we spoke about earlier and makes other adjustments to extend the Wagoneer S’s range and efficiency.
