What are the Design Features of the 2022 Jeep Gladiator?
The Jeep Gladiator has an iconic design that’s packed with all the signature features of the Jeep heritage brand! This pickup truck features a seven-slot grille, two round headlamps, and a four-door cabin with seating for up to five passengers. Plus, you can also remove the roof and doors, and fold down the windshield for that all-around open-air freedom that you know and love from the Jeep Wrangler. Where the Gladiator differs from the Wrangler, however, is in the addition of a five-food bed in the rear. This bed has a three-position tailgate that can be fully open, fully closed, or open halfway. Inside, you’ll find a Uconenct 4 system with either a 7-inch or an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Other available features include side steps, built-in navigation, and even a removable Bluetooth speaker!
What are the Jeep Gladiator’s Off-Road Abilities?
Now that we’ve introduced some of the design features of the 2022 Jeep Gladiator, it’s time to explore its off-road abilities! Each and every model in the Gladiator’s trim level lineup comes with some degree of capability, thanks to its wide array of standard features, including standard 4-wheel drive. The Gladiator also comes with standard Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, and steel underbody skid plates. All of that equipment allows you to drive through mud, gravel, or rain with ease, all while getting the traction you need! For true off-road trails, the Gladiator offers the Rubicon trim, which adds features like all-terrain tires, locking front and rear differentials, and a disconnecting front sway bar. The Rubicon also has an upgraded Rock-Trac 4X4 system with up to an 84:1 crawl ratio, perfect for navigating mountainous terrain. There’s also the Mojave trim that helps you take your adventures onto the sand. This model features a 1-inch front lift, FOX shock absorbers, and a front hydraulic jounce bumper. It also comes with a reinforced frame to help keep you stable on the uneven sands.
What Engines Power the 2022 Jeep Gladiator?
The Jeep Gladiator’s 2022 lineup offers two different powertrain options depending on your desired model! The standard setup utilized across the board is a 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission. The V6 also offers an available 8-speed automatic if you prefer. All in all, this powertrain offers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. For all of the trim levels aside from the Mojave trim, the second engine option is a more muscular 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6. This engine pairs exclusively with the 8-speed automatic transmission, and it delivers 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque to the Gladiator! In terms of capability, we’ve already mentioned that the entire range comes with standard 4-wheel drive, but that’s just the beginning. When properly equipped, the Gladiator has the ability to tow up to 4,500 pounds, and it can also haul up to 1,200 pounds of payload in its flatbed.
